My sad experience has been that the Windoze media player in XP Pro SP2 doesn't play nice with any other player, especially RealPlayer which caused all sorts of computer grief until it could be removed at the registry level.

get iTunes...for windows or mac...nothing is close...the quicktime player
is the scaled back version that comes with itunes....it's free...

real player was so beset with intrusive marketing and installation nonsense...it's a laughable piece of software.

Agree 100%. I allow none of the Real Player stuff on my computers, ever! Awful software. I use JRiver as my media player and love it.

BTW, I forgot to mention the soundcard we are using. It's an M-Audio Fast Tack Pro. Too many knobs and settings for my taste, but still one of the best choices out there. At home I use the old M-Audio USB Duo with good results, and have friends who have used the M-Audio Firewire Solo and Audiophile internal card with very good results.

I'm hoping that we can find what's going on with the glitches. Some sweeps are good, some are not - sometimes without changing a thing. I don't have Vista here (thank God) but do have XP and Windoze 7. Gonna test this damn card to see what's up.

Yep the Real player (Rhapsody) wouldn't even play on my computer kept crashing instantly (Junk). That was the first thing I tried, but moved on to Napster which works no problem. As I have a music subscription with them now but relies on windows media player somehow to play.I love the idea of the music subscription though.$14.95 a month I can download anything in there library to my MP3 players.Which I then hook up to my stereo via RCA inputs.I have about 2000 songs in my library for convenience.I have iTunes/Quicktime for my iPhone which is a necessity for an iPhone. You can't use an iPhone without iTunes unfortunately, you can not upload/download anything to an iPhone without there software (iTunes) installed on your computer!

It is looking more and more like a Windows Vista problem then a test gear problem. The problems arise after soundcard is powered down or computer shutdown and restarted/rebooted.But when I setup after restart test signals are clean most of the time it has to be checked constantly to make sure signals are still clean (Distortion Free).Still trying to run it down precisely to confirm exact cause of inconsistency, but my money is on Vista here's the last sweeps now they look great with no problems with the card being calibrated. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has seen this before while running Vista I would love to hear a solution,or your procedure to correct a problem that you may have encountered. Thank You !!

I found the post I was thinking of, but it had to do with an outboard EQ needing a FTDI-chipped USB to serial converter to hook up to a Vista laptop to communicate properly.

    You may find Windows embedded DirectX Diagnostic Tool of use. Follow;
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information. From the sysinfo window, select Tools/DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

When the tool opens, wait for the progress bar to finish, then view your system AV setup/status in the respective tabs.

If your card has an ASIO driver option use it. Check the mfr for firmware/driver updates too.

    Good Luck.

RE: Real Player... it's a Real virus. Think you uninstalled it? Check again. It reinstalls silently from the MSI file on reboot. I had to scrub the registry by hand to eliminate it. There oughtta be a law.

Hey Brad, Thanks for the help! When I bought this computer it came with a trial of Rhapsody so I got the subscription. And nothing worked so when I was in contact with Rhapsody support to get my money back,I also told them to get that crappy software of my computer. They thought maybe it was corrupted and told me that they would like me to try and reinstall it so I said sure if you can get this crap to work. And they said it was critical that all Rhapsody/Real files and folders were completely removed before install. So after I did that and it still didn't work I knew how to remove it completely you have to make sure all files are deleted after removing through Add/Remove programs it still leaves a few folders behind that have to be deleted manually & completely, I think some of them were SDK folders it was 3 years ago now.I haven't touched Real software since Junk !!!

Added: DirectX version 11 - No Problems found.Only thing listed in the notes section was that the M-Audio Fast Track Pro.sys not digitally signed

@GM, I was wondering if you ever did work out the port dims. Final Dims are 54" H x 36" W x Setback D is 10"then the 24" triangular with a flat back as in drawing.I am adding a flat board in the back that the triangle meets for Bracing reasons from front to back also mounting binding posts there. This is the final change. But I need port dims very soon. "Thank You"

No, been waiting on you to provide cab design details. Are these inside (i.d.) or outside (o.d.) dims? Bracing details? did you decide to make the vent a separate removable movable baffle or just one for driver and vent? Which did you decide, vertically or horizontally opposed woofers?

All these things affect cab vent design in general and especially with MLTLs or similar.
